FHP: Woman, 19, fatally struck while crossing street near UCF

Woman not using crosswalk when hit, troopers say

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. – A 19-year-old woman died after she was hit by a vehicle Friday night near the University of Central Florida, Florida Highway Patrol officials said.

The woman, identified as Alexandria Clark, of Orlando, was trying to cross University Boulevard near Alafaya Trail around 10 p.m., but was not using a crosswalk, troopers said.

The crash was first reported as a hit-and-run by Orange County Fire Rescue, but the FHP said that wasn't the case, as troopers found the 21-year-old driver and his vehicle near the scene of the crash.

Clark was taken to Florida Hospital East, where she was pronounced dead, FHP spokesperson Sgt. Kim Montes said.

The crash remains under investigation, troopers said.
