šHurricane season is on the horizonš
The National Hurricane Center (NHC) began issuing their tropical outlooks early this year. Youāre probably thinking, āWhy are they doing this when June 1, the official start of hurricane season, is about two weeks away?ā Hi there, meteorologist Michelle Morgan here talking about those preseason tropical outlooks.
Well, in the past years, weāve had disturbances become named storms before the season began, so because of that, the NHC now issues outlooks earlier, beginning in mid-May, due to the possibility of early storm activity.
With the early outlooks, itās a good reminder that hurricane season is on the horizon and being prepared is always key.
In addition to Wednesdayās, May 15, outlook, there was an earlier one issued on April 24, when a brief tropical disturbance appeared about 900 miles northwest of the Cabo Verde Islands. However, it had a very low chance of developing into a significant storm and quickly dissipated.
Thankfully, thereās nothing expected in the next 7 days. Click here to read more.
