Pleasant summer weekend! ☀️
Hey Insiders, it’s Chief Meteorologist Candace Campos here ready to break out the pumpkin spice stuff, thanks to the arrival of a rare cold front that is making its way through the area Thursday!
OK, its not exactly sweater weather yet, but the lack of humidity is going to make it feel soooooo nice! Click here to see what temperatures are looking like for the weekend!
Speaking of getting close to fall, Disney has already announced their dates for Mickey’s Not So Scary parties!
Are you ready for the seasons to change?
How lower humidity eases the heat? ☀️💧
Even though it won’t bring cooler temps, this front is strong enough to lower the humidity, which will make the heat way more tolerable.
Hi y’all, it’s meteorologist Michelle Morgan here, and I’m talking about how both temperature and humidity affect us.
You might hear meteorologists talk about the “heat index” or “feels like” temperatures during the summer. This combines the air temperature, humidity and wind to give you a sense of how hot it actually feels.
It’s not just about the air temperature—things like direct sunlight and wind can make it feel hotter or cooler than what the thermometer says.
So, checking the “feels like” temp gives you a better idea of how the weather will actually impact you. Click here to read more.
🍧Experimental cone unveiled🌀
What’s going on, guys? Meteorologist Jonathan Kegges here.
We told you earlier this year that the National Hurricane Center was going to try something new when it comes to their iconic tropical forecasting tool.
The NHC said this experiment would begin sometime in the middle of August.
We’ll, here we are, and with the formation of Ernesto earlier in the week, the new experimental cone started running side-by-side the traditional cone. Click here to see it in action.
Here is why the NHC is conducting the experiment.
How ‘Soldiers to Scholars’ is making a difference?
Hi Insiders! News 6 Meteorologist Julie Broughton here.
I hope back-to-school is going well at your house. I have to admit that I am exhausted, and I’m not even the one juggling homework and sports practices.
This week I’m excited to introduce you to “Soldiers To Scholars” in our Getting Results Award segment. This unique nonprofit offers veterans a chance to have their college tuition covered in exchange for volunteer work, while also providing invaluable mentorship to at-risk youth.
And don’t forget to let us know if you know anyone doing great things in our community! We’d love to honor them with a Getting Results Award.
