Results 2024 (Graham Media Group)

One city commission seat in Ocoee was up for grabs on Tuesday, but there were also 13 charter amendment questions on the ballot for voters.

Former Commissioner George Oliver III won back seat 4 on the Ocoee City Council.

Oliver beat challenger Nate Robertson 51.1% to 48.9%.

Oliver vacated the seat last year to run for mayor. When he lost that race, he filed to run for the seat again in a special election initially set for June 2023. When the election was moved to March 19, 2024, the city barred Oliver from running for the seat again. Oliver sued the city, and a judge ruled that Oliver could run.

The winner will serve until March 11, 2025.

Voters in Ocoee were also asked to vote on 13 charter amendment ballot questions on issues ranging from candidate qualifications to salaries of the city commission.

Voters approved 11 of the 13 amendments Tuesday night. They did not approve two amendments that would have granted more powers to the city, including the right to acquire or dispose of property by exchange.

Voters can read all the ballot questions and their explanations on the city of Ocoee website.
