Party primaries for an open U.S. House seat, school board races, city races, and more are all on the ballot for the statewide primary on Aug. 20.
The election is set up to determine which political party candidates for office will advance to the general election in November. Many of the races are partisan races, but there are some nonpartisan races as well. The winners of those races will affect your day-to-day life, setting local budgets, deciding school policy and setting local taxes.
