Orlando Magic sign Franz Wagner, Caldwell-Pope and more following week of negotiations

ORLANDO, Fla. – The Orlando Magic on Saturday reported which deals it struck during the Free Agency Moratorium.

Franz Wagner was signed to a five-year contract extension with the Magic. ESPN reports this contract extension is worth a minimum of $224 million, but could be as much as $269 million if Wagner makes an all-star team.

Originally selected in the first round (eighth overall) of the 2021 NBA Draft by Orlando, Wagner has played and started in 231 career NBA regular season games, all with Orlando, averaging 17.8 ppg., 4.6 rpg. and 3.4 apg. in 31.9 minpg., while shooting .850 (731-860) from the free throw line. He was named to the 2021-22 NBA All-Rookie First Team.

Free agent guard and two-time NBA champion Kentavious Caldwell-Pope was signed to join the team’s backcourt, a deal lauded by Orlando Magic President of Basketball Operations Jeff Weltman.

“We are thrilled to add a player like Kentavious to our team,” Weltman said in a statement. “He is not only an outstanding defender and an excellent shooter, he brings high character and a championship pedigree to our backcourt. We’re very excited to welcome Kentavious to the Orlando Magic family.”

Originally selected in the first round (eighth overall) of the 2013 NBA Draft by Detroit, Caldwell-Pope has played in 835 career NBA regular season games (693 starts) with Detroit, the L.A. Lakers, Washington and Denver, averaging 11.4 ppg., 3.0 rpg., 1.8 apg. and 1.15 stlpg. in 29.6 minpg., while shooting .369 (1,420-3,852) from three-point range and .819 (1,303-1,590) from the free throw line. He has also played and started in 62 career NBA playoff outings, averaging 10.1 ppg., 2.8 rpg., 1.7 apg. and 1.23 stlpg. in 32.4 minpg., while shooting .365 (114-312) from three-point range and .847 (72-85) from the free throw line. Caldwell-Pope won an NBA Championship in 2019-20 with the L.A. Lakers and 2022-23 with Denver.

The Magic agreed to renegotiate and extend the contract of forward Jonathan Isaac, who wears #1, a deal that the Associated Press has reported is worth some $84 million.

Originally selected in the first round (sixth overall) of the 2017 NBA Draft by Orlando, Isaac has played in 205 career NBA regular season games (108 starts), all with the Magic, averaging 8.4 ppg., 5.1 rpg. and 1.37 blkpg. in 22.2. He stands ninth on the Magic’s all-time blocked shots list with 280.

ORLANDO MAGIC AGREE TO RENEGOTIATE AND EXTEND CONTRACT OF JONATHAN ISAAC (excerpt)

Free agent center Moritz Wagner — who wears #21 with the Orlando Magic — was re-signed, according to the team.

Originally selected in the first round (25th overall) of the 2018 NBA Draft by the L.A. Lakers, Wagner has played in 333 career NBA regular season games (56 starts) with the Lakers, Washington, Boston and Orlando, averaging 8.8 ppg., 3.9 rpg. and 1.2 apg. in 16.5 minpg., while shooting .521 (1,047-2,010) from the floor and .820 (615-750) from the free throw line.

The Orlando Magic also re-signed free agent guard Gary Harris, who wears #14, the team announced.

Originally selected in the first round (19th overall) of the 2014 NBA Draft by Chicago, Harris has played in 570 career NBA regular season games (443 starts) with Denver and Orlando, averaging 11.0 ppg., 2.4 rpg., 1.9 apg. and 1.12 stlpg. in 28.0 minpg., while shooting .370 (875-2,367) from three-point range and .813 (780-960) from the free throw line. He has also played in 34 career playoff games (32 starts), averaging 9.6 ppg., 2.9 rpg., 1.8 apg. and 1.03 stlpg. in 31.0 minpg.

ORLANDO MAGIC RE-SIGN FREE AGENT GARY HARRIS (excerpt)

Forward and German native Tristan da Silva was signed by the Orlando Magic, having been selected by the team in the first round (18th overall) of the 2024 NBA Draft.

Da Silva (6’8”, 217, 5/15/01) appeared and started in 34 games last season as a senior at the University of Colorado, averaging 16.0 ppg., 5.1 rpg., 2.4 apg. and 1.15 stlpg. in 33.9 minpg., while shooting .395 (64-162) from three-point range and .835 (86-103) from the free throw line. He was named to the 2023-24 All-Pac-12 Second Team, earned Pac-12 All-Tournament Team honors and helped the Buffaloes reach the Sweet Sixteen during the 2024 NCAA Tournament.

The team also re-signed Goga Bitadze free agent center who has played in 249 career NBA regular season games with Indiana and Orlando.

Bitadze (6’11”, 235, 7/20/99) played in 62 games (33 starts) last season with Orlando, averaging 5.0 ppg., 4.6 rpg., 1.3 apg. and 1.16 blkpg. in 15.4 minpg., while shooting .603 (126-209) from the floor. He tied for 17th in the NBA in blocked shots. Bitadze led (or tied) the team in rebounding 16 times and scored in double figures 13 times, including a season-high 15 points three times.
