The Orlando Pride picked up two points in 2-2 draw against C.F. Monterrey Women in the NWSL x Liga MX Femenil Summer Cup on Saturday evening.

“We did practice them, we practiced them yesterday, at players’ request,” Pride coach Seb Hines said after the game. “They wanted to practice them and replicate the situation towards the end of the game. We did our best to replicate that.”

Alex Kerr and Julie Doyle scored the two goals for Orlando in the 50th and 83rd minutes, respectively.

“I’m just so grateful that it gets to be with this team because as Julie said, this team is so special and I just feel really lucky to be part of such an awesome group of girls and to help in any way I can. So, yeah, very special,” Kerr said.

The 33-match tournament Summer Cup consists of 30 group stage contests followed by a four-team semifinal round on August 6. The championship match will be played on Friday, October 25.

It features all 14 teams from the NWSL and the top six teams from LIGA MX Femenil, the highest division of women’s football in Mexico.

Orlando returns to their regular NWSL schedule on Aug. 23.
