ORLANDO, Fla. – The Knights returned to practice Tuesday after the first scrimmage of fall camp last weekend.

“You judge from day one until today, and like I said, it’s getting better every single day,” Offensive Coordinator Tim Harris, Jr., said at a press conference. “Our guys are just focusing on physicality right now, putting a big emphasis on that, and our guys are answering that bell.”

“I think everything went well,” defensive back Jamaal Johnson said. “In our room, it’s that mindset of never being satisfied, so there’s always something to work on, always something to improve. But I’ve seen a lot of good things from our room and for other positions on the defense and on offense. Overall, we did pretty well.”

Head Coach Gus Malzahn said at the start of fall camp that practices will be tougher on the players, as he wants to instill a new level of physicality into his players.

“We’re coming out every day, competing,” tight end Randy Pittman, Jr., said. “We all want to win games. We understood what happened last year. Just preparing for that and what’s to come and put ourselves in positions to win games.”

UCF’s first game is Thursday, Aug. 29, against New Hampshire. Home games this year include Sam Houston, Colorado, Cincinnati, BYU, Arizona and Utah.
