MIAMI, Fla. – For the third straight year, Cocoa High School won the Class 2A football state championship, defeating Gadsden County 38-27 on Thursday.
“Best senior class in Cocoa history,” Cocoa head coach Ryan Schneider said after the game. “We won three in a row, but we’ve been to four straight state championships. It’s a class of winners. I’m more proud of the type of people they are off the field.”
Cocoa opened the scoring with Tigers quarterback Brady Hart connecting with Jayvan Boggs, star wide receiver and recent Florida State Seminoles. Hart threw for 259 passing yards and also had a rushing touchdown.
“It was the resilience, as a team,” Hart said. “Our offensive line played awesome, and our defense got deep and got us some key stops. It was a great team game, for sure.”

Gadsden County dominated the run game with almost 160 total rushing yards. But a late rushing touchdown from Cocoa’s Latrison Lane sealed the title. He finished with two touchdowns in this competition.
Boggs finishes his senior season with 21 touchdowns and over 2,000 receiving yards.
“It means a lot for us as a team and for Cocoa the most,” Boggs said. “The legacy at Cocoa, the three-peat, we did it once, and now we did it again.”
