Ryan Welch joined the News 6 Team as a sports anchor and reporter in July 2017.
After nearly 15 years in the industry, Ryan gladly brings his passion for sports to Central Florida.
Ryan is a "northerner" from Massachusetts who has happily spent the past ten years in the South. While a student at Boston College, he called hockey games for the school's radio station. From that experience, he knew then and there that he wanted to pursue a career in sportscasting. He began his career at the ABC affiliate in Bangor, Maine, and also worked for the ABC affiliate in Portland, Maine and Time Warner Cable station in Raleigh, North Carolina
Ryan enjoys being able to put his storytelling talents to use for sports, specifically shining lights on individuals or teams that don’t typically get the attention they deserve.
Outside of work, his tastes are a little old school: Steely Dan, Kurt Vonnegut and "Seinfeld" are among his favorites. Ryan credits his native state for being a bit of a "homer" when it comes to favorite teams. Above all, he says he pulls for the BC Eagles--in good times and in bad!
You can watch Ryan every weekend on News 6 and follow him on Facebook and Twitter for the latest in sports.
