Nathaniel Rivas joined the News 6 sports team in December 2021 as a Sports Multimedia Journalist.
Nathaniel grew up in Tampa and graduated from Cambridge High School. He then went to the University of Central Florida and majored in Electronic Journalism with minors in Digital Media and Sports Business Management. While in school he interned with News 6 in 2018 and then returned a year later to join the News 6 team permanently.
From a young age, Nathaniel knew if I couldn't play sports professionally, he wanted to be around sports in some capacity.
Growing up, Nathaniel was always into sports. He started playing soccer when he was 3 years old and continued playing throughout high school. Nathaniel was named NSCAA All American and First Team All-District in his senior year.
Aside from sports, Nathaniel participated in drama performances during elementary through high school. That is how he discovered he was comfortable with be on camera and knew he wanted to make a career out of it. In was during college that Nathaniel realized he could combine his love for sports and the camera into a his professional life.
Some of Nathaniel’s favorite sports memory include watching the Mike Hughes kickoff return for UCF in the War on I-4 in 2017, covering College GameDay, and the UCF-Cincinnati game in 2018.
When not at work, Nathaniel can be found playing and talking about sports, involved in his church, visiting the theme parks and spending time with his friends.
