Flavors of Florida returns to Disney Springs with new food and drinks, culinary series

Begins July 1 at Disney Springs

Disney Springs Flavors of Florida presented by CORKCICLE returns to Walt Disney World Resort this summer (Landon McReynolds, WKMG)

LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. – Disney Springs’ Flavors of Florida is preparing to return to Walt Disney World Resort this summer with even more savory dishes and a scrumptious new culinary series featuring renowned chefs.

Running July 1 through Aug. 13, more than 30 locations throughout Disney Springs will be featuring a variety of food and drinks that celebrate homegrown flavors from Florida.

Some new items on the menu include an ensalada de sandía y tomate at Jaleo by José Andrés, a Key West shrimp cocktail at Chef Art Smith’s Homecomin’, a Key West pink shrimp ceviche at the Polite Pig, Frozen Old Fashioned at Wine Bar George and a key lime chocolate chip cookie from Gideon’s Bakehouse.

The newest twist to the popular summer event is a weekly culinary series headlined by internationally recognized chefs such as José Andrés and Art Smith.

“Every week we will be having a culinary experience by one of our world class chefs, and we will be able to share how these dishes were created and bring that to the community so we can come together and have a meal. It’s really something unbelievable and happening only here at Disney Springs,” said Matt Simon, vice president of Disney Springs.

Each of these special events will be held at Waterview Park near Wine Bar George and The Boathouse. During this all-new series a noted chef or prominent restaurant owner will stage a culinary experience that spotlights some of their most popular dishes and drinks, including many that will be on the Disney Springs Flavors of Florida menu.

The series kicked off Tuesday with Jaleo’s chef José Andrés speaking about his life and some of his favorite parts about being a chef. He also cooked up one of his favorite dishes, paella.

The next featured restaurants in the series are Wine Bar George (July 7), The Polite Pig (July 14), Chef Art Smith’s Homecomin’ (July 21), Gideon’s Bakehouse (July 28), and the final event hosted by acclaimed Disney chefs on Aug. 4. Disney said each culinary event is free to attend but guests need to register to attend.

During these times, attendees will have the opportunity to sample the dishes as well as interact with the chefs.
