‘So Much More to Sea’ as SeaWorld turns 60

Summer experiences, family roller coaster part of celebration at SeaWorld Orlando

ORLANDO, Fla. – SeaWorld’s first theme park opened in 1964 in San Diego. SeaWorld Orlando opened nine years later. After 60 years as a company, SeaWorld is celebrating a landmark anniversary with its “So Much More to Sea” campaign.

“It’s more than just a talking point,” said Jon Peterson, president of SeaWorld Orlando. “Open your eyes and see.”

Peterson highlighted the theme park’s many accomplishments at the celebration’s launch party, praising the attraction and restaurant transformation at SeaWorld Orlando, as well as its continued commitment to rescuing and caring for marine animals. Over 40,000 animals have been rescued since the park opened in 1973.

Among the highlights of SeaWorld’s 60th anniversary celebration include:

  • New Antarctica Realm: This immersive new area will be home to the highly-anticipated family launch coaster, Penguin Trek, set to open this summer. Guests can cool off at “South Pole Sips”. The latest addition to SeaWorld Orlando’s bar scene offers ice-cold draft beer, canned selections, and frozen cocktails. The popular Expedition Café is also reopening within the Antarctica Realm, boasting a diverse menu; from healthy grab-and-go options to delectable dishes inspired by Italian and Asian cuisines. Guests can also enjoy up-close encounters with penguins in the expansive penguin habitat.
  • In celebration of SeaWorld’s 60th Anniversary, guests of all ages can enjoy an all-new interactive parade featuring the park’s ocean crew and fan-favorite SeaWorld characters, Shamu and Crew.

  • Guests can catch an exhilarating all-new live stunt show, Xceleration, featuring hip-hop music, BMX, roller skating, and skateboarding at the air-conditioned Nautilus Theater.
  • Flippers, Facts, and Fun: A new sea lion presentation made its June debut and will have guests laughing and learning lots of fun facts about sea lions.
  • Rescue Tails features amazing animals, where guests will hear inspiring tales of rescues while learning about the importance of conservation at Seaport Theater.
  • Exclusive limited-edition food and beverage offerings, collectibles, and memorabilia. Guests can also start their day hanging out with Shamu and Crew while enjoying a delicious breakfast. Reservations are required and capacity is limited.
