ORLANDO, Fla. – Bundle up! It’s time to explore the coldest place on Earth.
Penguin Trek — SeaWorld’s family launch coaster — will officially open to the public on July 7 and News 6 got a preview of the theme park’s latest thrill with a hint of chill.
Built with an innovative design, the new coaster promises exhilarating adventure on an expedition through the wintery wilderness.
“Penguin Trek offers a unique blend of thrills and education, allowing guests to immerse themselves in the wonders of Antarctica while highlighting our dedication to wildlife preservation and family-friendly fun,” said Jon Peterson, President of SeaWorld Orlando.

Penguin Trek can also be described as a highly-themed story coaster. The indoor/outdoor ride begins with guests entering a sea and research station. Guests will then enter the loading bay, board snowmobile-style vehicles, and journey through an Antarctic landscape. Most of the queue is indoors, making a wait in the air conditioning a cool relief on a summer day.
The track features two exhilarating launches and a maze of twists and turns. The ride will reach speeds up to 43 mph across a 3,020-foot track. The height requirement is just 42 inches.
Penguin Trek takes over the space formerly occupied by Antarctica: Empire of the Penguin at the newly opened Antarctica Realm. The immersive area includes thrills, dining, and wildlife encounters. Following ride completion, passengers will dock at the fan-favorite penguin habitat. Non-thrill seekers will also have the option to skip the ride and have access to the penguin exhibit, kept at a chill of 32 degrees.
SeaWorld Orlando Pass Members will be among the first to experience Penguin Trek with special ride times starting July 2. Through Sunday, guests can take advantage of the Best Sale of the Year – the 4th of July Sale, offering up to 55% off tickets, Fun Cards, and annual passes.
