Scrap vehicles catch fire at Brevard County recycling plant

Shark attacks surfer off Melbourne Beach
MELBOURNE BEACH, Fla. โ A man was attacked by a โtoothy sea creatureโ while surfing Tuesday morning off Melbourne Beach, according to officials. The attack happened around 8:15 a.m. near the 7400 block of State Road A1A in the Sunnyland Beach community. The 25-year-old victim was taken to Holmes Regional Medical Center with an arm injury, according to Brevard County Fire Rescue. Officials said the man suffered โsignificant bleeding.โโIt was severe enough that they thought he needed specialized attention at a trauma center,โ Fire Chief Mark Schollmeyer said. Firefighters said the surfer was fortunate to be right across the street from the last fire station in the county before Sebastian Inlet.

Child required Narcan after touching โstrawโ used to smoke heroin, deputies say
COCOA, Fla. โ For the second time in two weeks, a young child in Brevard County required the aid of the opioid-overdose reversal drug Narcan after coming into contact with heroin, according to authorities. After unsuccessfully trying to wake the child, two other people in the home told Roush she needed to call 911, according to the report. Deputies said Roush knowingly and willingly impeded the medical response for the child. When BCFR and deputies arrived, the Narcan nasal spray was administered to the child to stop him or her from overdosing. The Narcan was successful and the child became responsive, according to the report.
Man bitten by โtoothy sea creatureโ at Cocoa Beach, paramedics say
COCOA BEACH, Fla. โ A man was transported to a local hospital after being bitten by what Brevard County firefighters described as a โtoothy sea creatureโ on Cocoa Beach, reports News 6 partner Florida Today. Paramedics responded to the beach between North First Street and North Second Street around 10 a.m. Tuesday. Brevard County Fire Rescue could not confirm whether the animal was a shark, saying only that it was a "toothy sea creature." Beaches have been closed except for exercise-related activities, such as jogging and surfing, as county officials try to tamper crowd sizes to stem the spread of coronavirus. Motorcycle crash forces lane closures along I-95, authorities say

Construction workers injured in crane accident in Viera
VIERA, Fla. โ Two workers were hospitalized Saturday after being trapped in a crane accident and collapse in Brevard County, investigators said. Officials with the Brevard County Fire Rescue learned of the situation Saturday morning. Units arrived and found a roof assembly that had fallen to the ground with workers freeing the two trapped workers with a piece of heavy equipment, according to a brief statement from BCFR authorities. 1 person transported to local hospital with NLT injuries and 1 trauma alert flown to a trauma center via @Health_First First Flight. The incident took place on Metfield Drive in Viera, at the site of a motel under construction.
