A professor at the University of Central Florida is now suing university officials following his termination over claims of misconduct, attributing it to discrimination over his "political views."

University of Central Florida Associate Professor of Psychology Dr. Charles Negy is to be reinstated after an abrupt termination last year.

The University of Central Florida has officially fired a professor who drew multiple complaints over his racist tweets but his termination is unrelated to his social media conduct and instead stems from other policy violations and allegations, including that he failed to report a student’s sexual assault.

Charles Negy, an associate professor of psychology at UCF, shared an opinion editorial post from a blog called Takis Magazine. News 6 recently spoke to UCF professor of sociology, Dr. Jonathan Cox, who specializes in race studies. According to Cox, Negy has tenure at UCF and may not be fired for his actions.

In the resolution, student leaders wrote that some of their peers feel unsafe and unwelcome in light of Negys comments and other prospective students are now reconsidering whether theyd still like to attend UCF. The aforementioned comments of Charles Negy perpetuate systemic racism and encourage discrimination and negative views towards the marginalized communities in which UCF educates and employs, the resolution reads. The resolution, which was sent to the schools president and other university decision makers, calls for Negy to be terminated.
