Though she was a little hesitant on Monday for the first day of school, she said coming back amid the coronavirus pandemic was a good idea. Volusia County is the last district to start the new school year in Central Florida, delaying the first day of school by three weeks because of COVID-19. The district said students and teachers returning for in-person learning will have to wear masks and have their temperatures checked. Gonzalez said if theres an outbreak at Mias school, shes prepared to go back to virtual learning at home.
