Troopers said the incident happened around 11:49 p.m. Friday night just east of County Road 44A. According to FHP, a pickup truck and SUV were driving east on State Road 44 while a pedestrian was walking in the outside lane of the road. The 23-year-old man from Wildwood was struck by both vehicles. Troopers said two other sedans are believed to have also collided with the man and then left the scene of the crash.

One man in Florida found himself face-to-face with the Florida Highway Patrol after investigators said he was throwing golf clubs at traffic on I-75. According to troopers, Jonathan Edward Day, 41, of North Port was driving north on I-75 Wednesday. During his drive, troopers said Day was throwing golf clubs out of his van at adjacent traffic. Online jail records showed Day was being held at the Hillsborough County Jail Thursday morning. Jail records listed him as unemployed.

MARION COUNTY, Fla. – Troopers with the Florida Highway Patrol said a child and 40-year-old woman have died after a crash in Marion County. The crash happened just before 8 p.m. Friday near Northwest 100 Street, just east of NW 49 Avenue Road. According to troopers, the woman was speeding on Northwest 100 Street when she crossed over the centerline and eventually lost control. LAKE COUNTY, Fla. – A 66-year-old Howey in the Hills man was killed Saturday night in a two-vehicle crash on U.S. Highway 27 in Lake County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. Troopers said the crash happened at 8:25 p.m. at U.S. Highway 27 and Palm Way. According to the crash report, the 66-year-old was driving a van behind a second passenger van when for an unknown reason he failed to slow, hitting the back of the second van. After the crash, the first van overturned, partially ejecting the 66-year-old driver. The 58-year-old driver of the second van was uninjured.

OSCEOLA COUNTY, Fla. – A semitruck crashed into a Florida Turnpike toll booth Monday in Osceola County after failing to slow in time, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. The crash happened on the Turnpike near the southbound toll booth around noon at mile marker 236, causing a 3-mile traffic backup. Troopers said the driver of the semi failed to slow and hit a car, then the southbound toll booth. SUMTER COUNTY, Fla. – Troopers with the Florida Highway Patrol are investigating a crash that left one man dead Sunday morning. According to investigators, the crash happened around 11 p.m. Saturday at State Road 471 and State Road 50. When the driver got into the southbound lane, he collided head-on with an oncoming semi-truck, troopers said. BREVARD COUNTY, Fla. – A Melbourne man is accused of assaulting a Palm Bay police officer then leading troopers and Brevard County deputies on a pursuit from Brevard County into Orlando, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. The FHP was called in on Wednesday night after Palm Bay police requested assistance reporting a suspect had assaulted one of their officers, according to the FHP report. Troopers said they followed the SUV onto Avalon park Boulevard where the vehicle continued speeding, eventually approaching State Road 408. Keith had multiple warrants for his arrest from Brevard County, according to the report. Keith was arrested around 12:40 a.m. on State Road 50, according to the report.

BREVARD COUNTY, Fla. – A Brevard County sheriff’s deputy was involved in a crash Tuesday while they were responding to an unrelated traffic wreck, a spokesperson for the sheriff’s office said. The deputy was responding to a vehicle and pedestrian crash on Fay Boulevard in Port St. John when the crash occurred, authorities said. The deputy was taken to a local hospital and expected to be OK. The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.

POLK COUNTY, Fla. – The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal crash between three vehicles in Polk County. According to troopers, the crash happened Friday around 10 a.m. Troopers said a sedan and tractor-trailer were both driving west on SR-400 adjacent to one another. The crash caused the sedan to be pushed into the center median where it collided with a cable barrier, troopers said. One of the struck cars overturned onto the shoulder while another traveled into the median, collided with the cable barrier, crossed the westbound lanes, and collided with a fence, troopers said.

PASCO COUNTY, Fla. – The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating a crash that left a man dead and a woman in critical condition. According to authorities, a Sedan and SUV were driving north on US-19 just south of Meridian Boulevard. Troopers said the sedan overtook the road and collided with the rear end of the SUV. According to a news release, the passenger suffered critical injuries and was taken to a hospital. Officials said the driver of the SUV suffered minor injuries.
