The dry vegetation combined with low relative humidity and gusty winds is creating dangerous fire conditions. Gusty northeast winds could quickly spread any fire that got started. The fire danger is elevated across of Central Florida, but the counties not included in the warning don’t quite meet the warning criteria. As the sun goes down, the relative humidity increases improving the situation.

The combination of that dry air and gusty winds through Saturday afternoon will elevate the fire risk. A Red Flag Warning for an increased fire risk is in effect Saturday for Volusia, Seminole and Orange counties. The air will remain dry Sunday, but the winds will weaken. Be mindful of open flames this weekend.
