The Florida Classic is the biggest rivalry game each year and one of the largest athletic fundraisers between Florida A&M University and Bethune Cookman University. Many businesses say they’re trying to make ends meet since the week-long events for the Florida Classic are going virtual, but it has been tough. Florida Classic event organizers told News 6 there were 55,730 at the classic game last year and the Orange County Comptroller’s Office said last year the game brought in $28 million in economic impact. It was the highest-attended Florida Classic game since 2011. The Wildcats earned a 31-27 win over Florida A&M, the ninth straight win for Bethune-Cookman in the series. Florida ended a five-year losing streak to Florida State last year with a 41-14 win in Tallahassee. Apopka (11-1) will host Lutz Steinbrenner in a semifinal on Friday, while Seminole (11-1) suffered its only loss of the season.
