As the sun set over Sand Point Park in Titusville Friday night, hundreds of people stood in respectful silence, as they listened to stories about Jessie Kirk, the beloved philanthropist whom police say was murdered last week.

Days after a missing Titusville woman’s remains were found, the man accused of stealing her vehicle now faces a murder charge in her death, police announced on Monday.

The Titusville Police Department says remains found earlier this week are that of a missing 72-year-old woman.

David Barber, 35, was booked at the jail Wednesday morning, the day after a car was found on fire and 72-year-old Jessie Kirk never met up with the friend she went on a walk with every day.
