PEMBROKE PINES, Fla. – A naked man knocking on doors at a South Florida apartment complex at midweek was shot by someone who then called 911 to turn himself in, police said. The man was carrying a Bible and knocking on doors Wednesday at the Sunshine Garden Apartments when he was shot, Pembroke Pines police Major Al Xiques told the South Florida SunSentiniel. The newspaper reported that officers found the man bleeding and on the ground. Police said officers were already on their way to investigate calls about a naked man at the complex when a 911 caller said he had just shot the man. “He was detained by police and is being questioned.”The identities of the man and the person who turned himself in were not immediately released.

PEMBROKE PINES, Fla. – A man wanted in the weekend kidnapping of a South Florida family is now in custody in Alexandria, Virginia, police said Monday morning. Pembroke Pines police said in a social media post that Jaddier T. Sanchez, 37, was taken into custody early Monday. The 18-year-old woman he is accused of kidnapping was taken to a hospital for treatment of minor injuries, police said. The incident began early Sunday morning, when Sanchez confronted the woman and her parents as they returned to their home in Pembroke Pines. They also told news outlets that Sanchez and the woman had “shared a romantic relationship.”Police did not say what charges Sanchez might face.

PEMBROKE PINES, Fla. – A pilot died when his single-engine plane crashed while trying to land at a small airport in South Florida. The crash happened shortly after the pilot took off from North Perry Airport in Pembroke Pines on Monday afternoon, officials said. He reported engine trouble and attempted to land while approaching a runway. No one on the ground was injured, Arlene Satchell, spokeswoman for the Broward County Aviation Department, told news outlets. The National Transportation Safety Board and the Federal Aviation Administration will investigate the crash.
