PALM BEACH, Fla. – A woman dancing on top of her Jeep outside The Breakers Palm Beach caught the attention of a Florida Highway Patrol trooper working a security detail at the luxury resort. When he approached the woman, she got into her Jeep, ignored him and drove away, breaching two security checkpoints near President Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago Club and prompting authorities to open fire, Palm Beach County Sheriff Ric Bradshaw said Friday, according to WPLG. The woman, identified as Hannah Roemhild, 30, continued driving onto Southern Boulevard and crossed the bridge into West Palm Beach, where she and another woman were taken into custody, Bradshaw said. We didn’t know if somebody was there to try to hit as many pedestrians as possible.”After authorities opened fire, the Jeep continued onto Southern Boulevard and crossed a bridge connecting Palm Beach to West Palm Beach. The rental Jeep was later found near Palm Beach International Airport at a Studio 6 motel, where she and another woman were taken into custody, Bradshaw said.

According to Kayak’s 2020 Travel Hacker Guide, Orlando was ranked No. 1 for affordable trip destinations, averaging 47% less than the average North American trip cost. Wekiwa Springs and the Orlando Science Center were mentioned as fun, affordable alternatives to the various theme parks tourists usually visit. Florida’s unemployment rate dipped to 3% in December, a drop Gov. According to the report, 220,000 Florida residents entered the workforce and Florida businesses created 198,200 private-sector jobs last year. The job growth rate of 2.5% outpaces the national average of 1.5%. In the Orlando area, the unemployment rate dropped half a percent in 2019 to 2.5% by December. The leisure and hospitality industry saw the highest growth rate in 2019 adding 12,500 new jobs.

WASHINGTON – A Chicago woman has become the second U.S. patient diagnosed with the dangerous new virus from China, health officials announced Friday. The patient is doing well and remains hospitalized “primarily for infection control,” said Dr. Allison Arwady, Chicago's public health commissioner. Earlier this week, a man in his 30s in Washington state became the first U.S. patient, also diagnosed after returning from a trip to the outbreak's epicenter in central China. The Washington state patient was in satisfactory condition Friday in an isolation unit at Providence Regional Medical Center in Everett, 30 miles north of Seattle. China has issued massive travel bans in hard-hit sections of that country to try to stem spread of the virus.

Firefighters are warning parents of a new viral challenge on TikTok called the “outlet challenge.”The social media challenge urges people to partially plug a phone charger into an outlet and then slide a penny between the outlet and the charger prongs. The result is what you would expect: sparks, electrical system damage and potentially a fire, according to the Holden Fire Department. A Falcon 9 rocket will launch from Cape Canaveral Air Force Station Launch Complex 40 no earlier than Jan. 27 carrying 60 Starlink satellites into low-Earth orbit. Re-flying rocket hardware allows SpaceX to keep launch costs lower than its competitors by millions of dollars. Ahead of the most recent Starlink launch, SpaceX provided astronomy groups with tracking data to help them coordinate their science observations. Don’t click on that link. That’s what FedEx is telling consumers dealing with a text and email scam. The shipping retailer tweeted an alert Wednesday, referring to recent schemes in which people reported receiving texts and emails that appear to be from FedEx. The message alerts users that they have a package, then provides a link, but FedEx says the company is not sending the messages. FedEx advises, “Suspicious messages should be deleted without being opened.”FedEx also says people should report the emails and texts to abuse@fedex.com.

The coronavirus that was first reported in China and has so far killed six people has made its way to the United States, according to Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The CDC announced Tuesday afternoon that the patient was diagnosed in Washington shortly after he returned from Wuhan, China, which is where the outbreak began. Since the virus was identified in Wuhan, China last month, more than 600 people across five countries have been infected and six people have died. Given the outbreak, public health entry screenings have been added at airports in San Francisco, New York and Los Angeles. According to the Associated Press, coronavirus symptoms include runny nose, headache, cough and fever and in more extreme cases, shortness of breath, chills and body aches.

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Krystal Co., the Georgia-based restaurant chain known for tiny hamburgers and late-night service across the Southeast, has filed for bankruptcy, but said Tuesday that all of its locations would remain open. Federal court documents showed Krystal sought Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in Atlanta on Sunday. The company said it owed between $50 million and $100 million to food suppliers, equipment companies and others. Krystal has about 300 restaurants in 10 states, 182 of which employ 4,890 people and are operated by the company, restructuring officer Jonathan M. Tibus said in a court filing. Krystal said in a court document that it has restaurants in Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee.
