The city said Women’s History Month is observed throughout the country during March as a way to celebrate the accomplishments and contributions of women in American history.

Theme honors caregivers and frontline workers and pays homage to the women throughout history have inspired hope.

From politicians to occupations traditionally held by men, these are just some of the Florida women that helped pave the way for women today to live out their dreams. It is the oldest surviving incorporated black municipality and possesses a rich tradi- tional culture immortalized in the works of Zora Neale Hurston (1901- 1960). The Zora Neale Hurston National Museum of Fine Arts offers a kaleidoscope of exhibitions repre- senting the work of African diaspora artists.
