Jaguars say no way despite roster purgeFOURNETTE WAIVEDWhy it looks bad: Jacksonville got nothing in return for Fournette, a 1,000-yard rusher in two of his first three years who scored 19 touchdowns and rarely fumbled. NGAKOUE TO MINNESOTAWhy is looks bad: The Jaguars wanted a first-rounder in return for Ngakoue, who has 37 sacks and 14 forced fumbles in four seasons. Why it makes sense: He started showing his age down the stretch last season, partly because he played close to 80% of the defensive snaps. BOUYE TO DENVERWhy it looks bad: Team whiffed on two potential replacements: Free agent Darqueze Dennard failed a physical and Rashaan Melvin opted out because of COVID-19 concerns. Why is makes sense: Bouye wasnt at his best in 2019, finishing with one interception for the second straight season, and was due nearly $13.5 million.

The Jacksonville Jaguars never got the first-round draft pick they wanted for pass rusher Yannick Ngakoue. Jacksonville dealt Ngakoue to Minnesota on Sunday in exchange for a second-round draft pick in 2021 and a conditional fifth-rounder in 2022. And at the end of the day, when youre a coach and youre sitting there, its almost like you feel like youre in the middle, Marrone said. He will give the Vikings a young, proven pass rusher opposite star Danielle Hunter, one whose work ethic and intensity have always been among the most respected in Jacksonvilles locker room. Jacksonville also selected Ngakoues replacement, Josh Allen from Kentucky, with the seventh overall pick in the 2019 draft and added pass rusher KLavon Chaisson this year.

Gardner Minshew turned in his best performance in two months, throwing for 295 yards and three touchdowns and leading the Jaguars to a 38-20 victory over Indianapolis on Sunday. The rookie closed out Jacksonville's disappointing season by strengthening his case to be the team's starting quarterback next season.
