This game, like all the bowl games in Central Florida, required major adjustments for safety precautions, including social distancing markers, limited seating, and masks required throughout. “I think these bowl games, although an economic impact will be felt, the broadcast to the country about how Orlando is safely open for business,” he said. “I think it is a powerful message.”Capacity inside the stadium was capped at about 20%, which amounts to about 13,000 fans.

ORLANDO, Fla. – Businesses near Camping World Stadium, many of which have already been struggling because of the coronavirus pandemic, are suffering another financial hit this weekend because the Florida Classic game is canceled because of COVID-19. The Florida Classic is the biggest rivalry game each year and one of the largest athletic fundraisers between Florida A&M University and Bethune Cookman University. Many businesses say they’re trying to make ends meet since the week-long events for the Florida Classic are going virtual, but it has been tough. Florida Classic event organizers told News 6 there were 55,730 at the classic game last year and the Orange County Comptroller’s Office said last year the game brought in $28 million in economic impact. ORLANDO, Fla. – One person was killed Friday afternoon in a two-vehicle crash near Camping World Stadium in Orlando, according to police. Orlando police responded to the crash at 4:29 p.m. near the intersection of Rio Grande Avenue and South Street. One of the vehicles over turned, ejecting the driver, police said. The person was pronounced dead at the crash scene. The intersection remains closed as of 5:30 p.m. for the crash investigation.

ORLANDO, Fla. – The sixth-annual Cure Bowl game will happen in Orlando this December despite the pandemic but with some changes. The bowl game will be played at Camping World Stadium on Dec. 26 at noon. Due to the pandemic, it’s unclear if fans will be able to attend the Cure Bowl. If fans are permitted, organizers will work with ESPN events, Orlando and Camping World to follow all COVID-19 precautions. There are two other bowl games planned in Orlando this season, the Cheez It Bowl on Dec. 29 and the VRBO Citrus Bowl on Jan. 1.

King said it’s been difficult the last few months at home and is currently driving for Uber to put some food on the table for her family. Angel Rosa and his wife showed up to Camping World Stadium hours before the distribution. A blessing is a blessing,” Rosa said. Last month, One Heart for Women and Children handed out 50,000 pounds of food to residents at Church in the Son.

ORLANDO, Fla. A new COVID-19 mobile testing site is opening in Orlando next week, according to a news release from the city. Officials with the City of Orlando announced the new drive-thru site will open at Camping World Stadium on Wednesday and will be pedestrian-accessible. The site will become the latest mobile testing site to open in Orlando to help increase testing within city neighborhoods. The mobile sites operate on Wednesdays and rotate to new locations each week, according to the release. Other COVID-19 testing sites in Central Florida can be found using this interactive map.
