Federal and state laws protect sea turtles and forbid taking, possessing, disturbing, mutilating, destroying, selling and harassing all types of sea turtles, their nests and their eggs. ORLANDO, Fla. – With the threat of Tropical Storm Isaias diminishing, more than a dozen state-supported COVID-19 testing sites that were shut down due to the inclement weather are planning to reopen as early as Monday. 15 state-supported COVID-19 testing sites closed due to #Isaias will resume operations tomorrow. Though the state-supported sites closed because they’re set up outdoors and can’t handle wind and rain, many private sites continued operating through the weekend. Still, officials have said that the free sites closing temporarily could have an impact on the state’s coronavirus figures. On the flip side, Mike Jachles from the Florida Department of Emergency Management said there could be at least one benefit to the decrease in testing.

Tropical Storm #Isaias Advisory 26: Isaias Forecast to Make Landfall Tonight as a Hurricane. The National Hurricane Center said Tropical Storm Isaias is expected to be near hurricane strength when it reaches the Carolinas. Tropical Storm #Isaias could produce 2-4 feet of storm surge flooding above ground level along portions of the Florida east coast and Carolina coast. As of 630 a.m. Sunday, Tropical Storm Isaias was forecasted to make landfall in Brevard County in the evening. Tropical Storm Isaias was spinning 45 miles northeast of Ft. Lauderdale and located about 45 miles southeast of West Palm Beach.

Brevard County’s public safety director said Saturday that preparations for Tropical Storm Isaias do not include ordering evacuations or opening shelters. Isaias becomes the earliest “I” storm on record beating out Irene of 2005. In fact, Isaias developed earlier than any eighth named storm prior to the 2020 season. The ninth named storm of the season typically doesn’t develop until Oct. 4. There has been higher degree of uncertainty with this storm because it had not developed a center until late Wednesday evening. ORLANDO, Fla. A disturbance in the Caribbean is still expected to strengthen into Tropical Storm Isaias as early as Wednesday as it continues on a projected path toward Florida. The tropical wave is expected to move through the Leeward Islands, and near or over the Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico on Wednesday night. ORLANDO, Fla. A tropical disturbance approaching the Windward Islands has a very good chance to become a named storm, and some computer models show it taking a projected path near Florida. As of Tuesday morning, the area of the low pressure was about 750 miles east of the Windward Islands, moving west-northwest at 15-20 mph. Environmental conditions are expected to become somewhat more conducive for development and the tropical depression or tropical storm is likely to form during the next couple of days.The National Hurricane Center said the system has a 90% chance of tropical development over the next five days. The next named storm will be called Isaias. Computer models show the system heading toward Florida and the Bahamas by the weekend.

If youre looking for the short answer as to who names the storms, the World Meteorological Organization has the responsibility for naming the storms that impact the Atlantic Basin. The pre-designated list of names is proposed by the members that are relevant to where the storms may impact. In 1953, the U.S. began using female names. It wasnt until 1979 that both male and female names were used in the Atlantic Basin.
