Deputies in Volusia County search for a missing 15-year-old girl who disappeared from her home in Deltona.

A man, who was already on probation, is back behind bars after Volusia County deputies say he sprayed a child in the face with bleach and threatened to set a home on fire.

Investigators said Bailee Vrban left Heritage Middle School in Deltona on Friday afternoon. VCSO said she left Heritage Middle School out a back exit. The county school district has also sent out a message to parents.

VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. A man wanted for his role in a Miami shooting was captured during a felony traffic stop Friday, according to the Volusia County Sheriffs Office. Deputies said they arrested Rodrick Thomas along Interstate 95 Friday around noon after his vehicle was spotted by Ormond Beach police, according to a Facebook post. A Volusia County deputy was able to catch up with Thomas and perform a felony traffic stop and take him into custody. Deputies said Thomas was taken into custody without incident on a warrant for shooting into a dwelling and aggravated assault with a firearm out of Miami. The traffic stop was captured by the patrol vehicles dashboard camera and can be viewed below.

DELAND, Fla. – A Florida man was arrested after he broke into a DeLand church and stole items meant to help the church fundraiser for the community, according to the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office. According to a report, more than $2,000 worth of tools, a brand-new laptop, musical equipment and gift cards were stolen. As they were investigating the church burglary, deputies said DeLand police advised they had just tracked a man into the woods 50 yards away from the church, and in his possession were the stolen tools and a gun. Deputies said when they showed photographs of the stolen items to the church employees, they confirmed the tools and other valuables were theirs. “Christopher Nettles, 40, of DeLand is charged with armed burglary and grand theft under $5,000.
