Orange County deputy headed home from work strikes, kills pedestrian, officials say

Name of victim, deputy has not been released

OCOEE, Fla. – A pedestrian was killed in a crash involving an Orange County Sheriff's Office vehicle Monday night, according to Ocoee police.

The fatal crash was reported at State Road 50 and Blackwood Avenue in Ocoee.

The victim's name and the name of the deputy have not been released.

The Orange County Sheriff's Office said Tuesday that the deputy was not on active duty and was headed home when the crash occurred.

Sheriff's officials said the deputy remains on regular duty status, but will take a couple of days off.

The crash will be investigated by the Ocoee Police Department.

No other details have been released.
