What The Honk: Don’t make your mistake someone else’s problem

Trooper Steve discerns the improper from the inconsiderate

ORLANDO, Fla. – Last week I asked for you guys to be on the lookout for some really good honks, and you guys delivered.

Let’s check them out.

Are you blind? (Copyright 2023 by WKMG ClickOrlando - All rights reserved.)

Let’s talk about this picture for a moment, please. I spot three separate violations. Can you? First one, unoccupied parked vehicle in an active lane also facing the wrong way. Second, parked in a fire lane and lastly, the sign is clear ladies and gentlemen, fire lane. No parking. This is a true what the honk moment.

We can do better. (Copyright 2023 by WKMG ClickOrlando - All rights reserved.)

Now, this is a honk that makes my blood boil.

It is the driver’s responsibility to ensure that everyone in their vehicle is doing what they’re supposed to be doing, especially when it comes to children. This photo was taken at an exit ramp off of Interstate 95, and this child in the rear seat is clearly not properly belted.

This is a traffic violation that would be issued to the driver since this child is obviously not an adult. We can do better than this, please, let’s not have this happen again.

I talk all the time about not letting your traffic mistakes become other people’s problem, and there is a funny twist to this video.

What may be funny about someone blocking a through lane in order for them to squeeze into the left turning lane? Well, I just happen to know this driver.

I took this video on my way to a friend event over the weekend. While recording it, my fiancée in the passenger seat pointed out, “I think we know who this is.” As I am an equal opportunity, traffic-call-you-out person, whether I know you or not, you will end up here if I find that you doing something like this.

Please, next time just cruise on up to the light and correct yourself down the road. Obviously, you could see here, this driver backed traffic up and caused them to move into other lanes.

I want to share the things you’re seeing! Keep your passenger pictures or dash camera videos coming and email them to me at AskTrooperSteve@wkmg.com.
