According to FHP, a van along Pleasant Hill Road was turning left onto South Poinciana Boulevard when a 2010 Honda Insight, northbound on the painted median along the boulevard, entered into the van’s path.
As a result, the van struck the Honda, causing the Honda to enter the southbound lanes and overturn, troopers said.
In a crash report, troopers stated that the Honda then collided with the front of an oncoming SUV. Meanwhile, the engine of the Honda detached and crashed into another sedan that was headed north along South Poinciana Boulevard, the report shows.
The 31-year-old Poinciana man driving the Honda was pronounced dead at the scene, troopers said.
The driver and 2-year-old passenger of the SUV suffered minor injuries and were taken to a hospital, troopers added.
The occupants of the other two vehicles were uninjured and remained at the scene, according to FHP.
Poinciana Boulevard was closed in the area.
