US-301 reopens in Marion County after major crash shuts down lanes, deputies say

MARION COUNTY, Fla. – Marion and Alachua county deputies on Friday responded to the scene of a crash in Citra that prompted the temporary closure of northbound US-301.

Described as a “major crash” in a Facebook post from the Marion County Sheriff’s Office, the incident forced all lanes of northbound US-301 to be shut down at the roadway’s intersection with E Highway 318.

The post was initially made at 12:49 p.m., updated at 3:27 p.m. to announce all lanes had been reopened.

Other than how the crash caused serious injuries, the post contained no further details about the wreck.
