Orlando man on moped killed after hit-and-run crash; 1 arrested

Anthony Marcel Martin, 27, faces multiple charges

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. – An Orlando man riding a moped died after being injured in a hit-and-run crash, according to Florida Highway Patrol.

The crash happened Monday night around 11:55 p.m. at Orange Blossom Trail and Americana Boulevard.

According to a crash report, a Nissan Altima was traveling south on OBT when the moped attempted to turn left in front of the Altima to head west on Americana Boulevard.

The front of the car hit the moped, and the Altima fled, according to troopers.

The vehicle, driven by 27-year-old Anthony Marcel Martin, was located by Orange County deputies in a parking lot, and Martin was later arrested by FHP.

The moped driver died on Thursday, Nov. 8.

Troopers said Martin’s charges will be upgraded to failing to stop or remain at a crash involving death.

An investigation is ongoing.
