PORT ORANGE, Fla. – A pedestrian was taken to the hospital as a trauma alert after being struck by a vehicle in Port Orange on Saturday afternoon, according to a news release.

Port Orange police said they responded to 5111 Ridgewood Ave. around 1:30 p.m. for a crash involving a single vehicle versus a pedestrian.

Witnesses said the pedestrian was not in a marked crossing zone and was struck by the vehicle as he was crossing the roadway.

Police said the pedestrian was taken to a local hospital as a trauma alert, but no other information was shared about their condition.

“Efforts to notify next of kin remain ongoing for the pedestrian at this time,” the release read in part.
