ORLANDO, Fla. – News 6 traffic safety expert Trooper Steve Montiero answers viewer questions about the rules of the road, helping Orlando-area residents become better drivers by being better educated.

Trooper Steve was asked, “Can a police officer be completely hidden with no lights on in the dark while shooting speed radar?”

“Now, I highly doubt you are going to find a police officer in some sort of camouflage outfit or a ghillie suit, but they can place themselves in a manner that is not to be readily seen by the speeding traffic,” he said.

Trooper Steve says there are no laws that restrict police enforcement and indicate that they should not “hide.”

“The best way to avoid a speeding ticket from a police officer that you may not see is, don’t speed,” he said.
