Man arrested in Brevard County, accused of 7th DUI

BREVARD COUNTY, Fla. – A man arrested by Brevard County deputies on Friday night after a traffic stop faces a seventh DUI charge, according to a news release.

Deputies said they conducted a traffic stop on a white Toyota SUV after the tag came back registered to a green Dodge Truck, but did not say where stop happened.

According to the release, deputies could smell a strong odor of alcohol coming from the driver – identified as Douglas Moore – and asked him to submit to a filed sobriety test.  

Deputies said Moore refused and was placed under arrest “for his 7th DUI/reckless driving involving alcohol charge.”

According to the release, Moore was required to have an interlock device on his vehicle, but did not, and was was driving an unregistered vehicle “which he admitted to affixing the improper tag.”

Deputies said Moore declined to provide a breath, urine, or blood sample and he was transported to the Brevard County jail where he faces charges of driving under the influence 4th or subsequent charge, refusal to submit, and failure to register a motor vehicle.

“He needs to stay in jail and anything else is simply a failure to protect our citizens!!” Sheriff Wayne Ivey said in a social media post.
