ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. – A 22-year-old Orlando man was killed in a crash that shut down the Beachline for hours in Orange County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Still east of the GreeneWay, the man began approaching a vehicle ahead him that was traveling at a slower speed, according to an FHP crash report.
The man attempted to change lanes, entering the direct path of a 2010 Volkswagen Passat that was being driven westbound in the outside lane by a 41-year-old Orlando man, the report states. This caused the right rear of the Jetta to strike the left front of the Passat, sending the Jetta off the roadway to the right while rotating clockwise, troopers said.

The left side of the Jetta struck a tree and the vehicle entered a ditch, the report states. The driver, who troopers believe was not wearing a seat belt in the crash, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The other Orlando man was not injured and remained at the scene, troopers said.
Westbound traffic on the Beachline was brought to a halt as a roadblock was established. The roadblock remained in place until the latter half of the noon hour.
