BREVARD COUNTY, Fla. – A bicyclist was sent to the hospital as a trauma alert after being struck by a minivan in Brevard County on Saturday evening, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
Troopers said the crash happened around 6:14 p.m. on North Cocoa Boulevard and Broadway Boulevard in Cocoa.

According to a news release, a Toyota Sienna minivan – being driven by a 43-year-old woman from Land O’ Lakes – was traveling northbound on North Cocoa Boulevard, south of Broadway Boulevard in the inside lane.

At the same time – a bicyclist, identified as a 60-year-old man from Cocoa – began traveling from east to west not in a marked crosswalk and entered the northbound lane in the direct path of the minivan, troopers said.
As a result, the front of the minivan struck the bicyclist. The man was transported to a local hospital as a trauma alert.
Troopers said the driver of the minivan and their passenger were not injured and remained at the scene.
According to the release, the roadblock from the crash was cleared at 7:26 p.m.
The crash remains under investigation.
