Traffic blocked after senior man fatally struck by semitruck in Orange County

Crash happened around 6:35 p.m. along South Orange Blossom Trail

ORLANDO, Fla. – A 64-year-old Orlando man was killed on Friday evening after being struck by a semitruck, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

In a release, troopers said that the crash happened around 6:35 p.m. along South Orange Blossom Trail, near Consulate Drive.

At the time, the semitruck was driving north while the man — outside of a marked crosswalk — walked into the road, troopers added.

The man entered into the direct path of the oncoming semitruck, and so he was struck by the front-right of the truck, the release says.

As a result, the man died at the scene, investigators said. Meanwhile, the driver of the semitruck was uninjured and remained at the scene.

A roadblock was set up for the northbound lanes of Orange Blossom Trail while troopers investigate the crash.
