KISSIMMEE, Fla. – One person was killed and two others were seriously injured Wednesday morning in a wrong-way wreck in Osceola County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The fatal crash happened around 4:15 a.m. on Poinciana Boulevard near Terra Esmeralda Boulevard in Kissimmee.
The FHP said the crash involved a 2000 Mercedes-Benz E-Class, a 2022 Chevrolet Silverado, a 2023 Hyundai Kona and a 2023 Jeep Renegade.
According to a crash report, the Mercedes-Benz E-Class was traveling south in the northbound lane and the Chevrolet Silverado swerved to try and avoid the vehicle. The Mercedes hit the back of the pickup and continued traveling south in the northbound lane before crashing into the front of the Hyundai Kona. The crash caused the Hyundai Kona to rotate and hit the Jeep Renegade, causing the two vehicles to go off the roadway, troopers said.
The Jeep ended up on its right side after overturning, according to the report.
The driver of the Mercedes, a 45-year-old Kissimmee man, was pronounced dead at the scene, troopers said.
The drivers of the Hyundai and Jeep, a 45-year-old Kissimmee woman and a 61-year-old Kissimmee woman, respectively, were taken to Osceola Regional Medical Center. The 45-year-old had critical injuries while the other woman had serious injuries, the report said.
Northbound lanes of Poinciana Boulevard were closed in the area.
An investigation is ongoing.
