St. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. – Two people are dead and a 9-year-old from Orlando is among four others who were hurt in a head-on crash Saturday morning in St. Johns County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The crash occurred around 8:53 a.m. on State Road 16 near San Giacomo Road, troopers said.

According to an FHP crash report, a sedan being driven east by a 20-year-old St. Augustine man traveled into the westbound lane, colliding head-on with a westbound SUV carrying five people from Orlando.
The St. Augustine man was pronounced dead at the scene of the wreck, as was a 60-year-old woman who was a passenger in the SUV, the report states. A 30-year-old woman and a 12-year-old girl who were also passengers in the SUV suffered minor injuries in the crash while the 32-year-old man driving the SUV and a 9-year-old girl, another passenger, suffered serious injuries, troopers said.
The 30-year-old passenger and the man driving the SUV were the only people troopers could confirm were wearing seat belts in the crash, FHP said.
No other details have been shared or confirmed at the time of this report.
