A motorcyclist was critically injured early Monday in a crash that prompted the closure of Interstate 4 in Orange County, the Florida Highway Patrol said.
The wreck occurred around 3 a.m. on I-4 east at State Road 535 near Orlando.
The FHP said a 34-year-old Orlando man was riding a 2023 Yamaha motorcycle east on I-4 in the center lane and failed to slow for traffic ahead of him.
The bike struck the back of a 2022 Chrysler Pacifica driven by a 45-year-old Ohio woman, according to troopers.
The motorcyclist was taken to Orlando Regional Medical Center with critical injuries, the FHP said.
The Ohio woman was not injured, according to troopers.
All eastbound lanes of I-4 were closed in the area, but the interstate was reopened about five hours later.
An investigation is ongoing.
