The sedan struck a mailbox, tree, and light pole before hitting Moayer, who was standing on the sidewalk, troopers said. Officials said the vehicle then crashed into a home through the front porch.
Moayer was pronounced dead at the scene.
Troopers did not elaborate on what sparked the battery charge that Engley now faces.
Seminole County officials said Engley was released Monday evening on a $7,500 bond.
