Pedestrian dies after being struck walking across Orange County road, FHP says

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. – A man died after being struck by a sedan early Saturday while walking across a road in Orange County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The crash occurred around 12:39 a.m. as the car traveled westbound on West Oak Ridge Road, east of Chancellor Drive, in the inside lane, troopers said.

According to an FHP crash report, the man was walking from south to north across West Oak Ridge Road when he entered the direct path of the sedan and was struck as a result. Troopers believe he was not in a marked crosswalk.

The man was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead, the report states, adding the driver and passenger of the sedan were not injured.

The man’s identification is pending word from the medical examiner’s office, troopers said.

FHP is still investigating.
