BREVARD COUNTY, Fla. – A fatal crash temporarily shut down all northbound lanes of Interstate 95 closed in Brevard County on Wednesday afternoon, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
Troopers said the crash happened around noon in the northbound lanes of the interstate in the Mims area at mile marker 223 near State Road 46.

According to a preliminary crash report, a Ford F-150 pulling a travel trailer was heading north on I-95, south of State Road 46 in the outside lane.

Troopers said the driver lost control of the vehicle and overcorrected which caused the truck to rotate and start to overturn. The vehicle came to a final rest on its roof in the inside lane with the trailer overturned onto its right side.
According to the report, the driver – identified as a 73-year-old Vero Beach woman – was pronounced dead at the scene. An 8-year-old boy was airlifted to the hospital with serious injuries. In addition, a 74-year-old passenger was not injured.
All lanes of I-95 were reopened as of 4:30 p.m., troopers said.
The crash remains under investigation.
