SunRail train strikes, kills pedestrian in Orlando

ORLANDO, Fla. – A 51-year-old Orlando man was struck and killed Tuesday afternoon by a SunRail train, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

The fatal crash happened around 2:45 p.m. on the tracks adjacent to South Orange Avenue near Pine Street in Orange County.

The FHP said the train was southbound, and the man, who had been sitting on the tracks, began walking east into the path of the train.

The man was struck and authorities pronounced him dead at the scene, the FHP said.

No one on the train was injured.

Pine Street was blocked in both directions on Pine Street.

An investigation is ongoing.
