ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. – An Orlando man accused of leaving the scene of a crash that involved two teenage boys, one of whom has since died, now faces more charges, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Dennis Trost, 58, was booked Thursday at the Orange County Jail and charged with leaving the scene of a crash involving serious bodily injury, records show. He now faces leaving the scene of a crash resulting in death and tampering with evidence.

The crash occurred just before 8 p.m. Tuesday along International Drive as Trost turned left from the northbound lanes toward Parc Corniche Drive, troopers said. While he was turning, the right side of Trost’s Jeep was struck by two boys — ages 14 and 15 — who were riding mini motorcycles southbound on International Drive, according to FHP. Trost claimed he had a green traffic signal when he made the left turn at the intersection, a preliminary crash report states.

The 14-year-old was hospitalized for treatment of serious injuries while the 15-year-old was taken to the hospital as a trauma alert and was listed in critical condition as of Friday morning, according to FHP. The 15-year-old was pronounced dead Friday evening, troopers said, adding additional charges are pending for Trost.

After the crash, Trost reportedly ran off westbound on Parc Corniche Drive, according to FHP. Troopers would later find the damaged Jeep nearby and obtain an arrest warrant for its driver, as well as a search warrant for the vehicle, the report states.

At his first appearance in court Thursday, Trost was appointed a public defender and given a $10,000 bond which he has since posted.

FHP is still investigating.
