Ocala man accused of DUI manslaughter in crash that killed 1, injured others, FHP says

MARION COUNTY, Fla. – An Ocala man faces DUI manslaughter and other charges following his involvement in a crash that killed a Clermont woman and left three others hurt, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The crash occurred around 7:40 p.m. Friday on northbound U.S. 441, near SE 92nd Loop in Marion County, troopers said.

According to an FHP crash report, a 54-year-old Ocala man identified as William Hibshman, was driving a pickup truck that rear-ended an SUV carrying four occupants. Of those four, the 53-year-old Ocala man driving the SUV suffered minor injuries while two of his passengers — a 60-year-old Ocala woman and a 76-year-old Clermont man — suffered serious injuries in the crash, troopers said.

The third passenger in the SUV, a 72-year-old Clermont woman, suffered fatal injuries, the report states.

Hibshman suffered minor injuries in the crash and was booked into the Marion County jail, according to FHP.
