MARION COUNTY, Fla. – An 82-year-old Ocala man died after suffering a medical event and crashing early Friday in Marion County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The crash occurred around 5:40 a.m. in area of SW 87th Avenue and SW 90th Place, troopers said.
According to an FHP crash report, troopers believe the man lost control of the vehicle while suffering the medical event.
The vehicle — which was heading north on SW 87th Avenue, approaching SW 90th Place — traveled off of the roadway and struck a boulder, the report states.
The man was taken to a hospital and pronounced dead, troopers said, adding he was wearing a seat belt during the crash.
