Woman faces DUI manslaughter charges in Apopka crash that killed her 4-year-old daughter, police say

APOPKA, Fla. – A 34-year-old woman faces several charges, including DUI manslaughter, two months after a crash that claimed the life of her 4-year-old daughter, according to the Apopka Police Department.

Police said that Caitlyn Swatkowski was the driver in the single-vehicle crash on Sept. 22 that killed her daughter and caused serious injuries to another child in the vehicle.

The crash happened around 1 p.m. before mile marker 35, near Yothers Road.

According to Apopka police, after a “comprehensive investigation,” they obtained arrest warrants for Swatkowski on charges of aggravated manslaughter of a child, DUI manslaughter, vehicular homicide, child neglect with great bodily harm and DUI causing serious bodily injury.

Police said that Swatkowski was arrested on Tuesday while attending an unrelated court hearing in Volusia County.

She was booked into the Volusia County jail and later transferred to the Orange County jail on Dec. 4.
